Schottland besteht aus dem n\u00f6rdlichen Drittel der gr\u00f6\u00dften europ\u00e4ischen Insel Gro\u00dfbritannien sowie mehreren Inselgruppen und hat etwa 5,5 Millionen Einwohner. Die schottische Hauptstadt ist seit 1437 Edinburgh. Das K\u00f6nigreich Schottland und das K\u00f6nigreich England wurden ab 1603 in Personalunion regiert. 1707 wurden die beiden Staaten zum K\u00f6nigreich Gro\u00dfbritannien vereinigt.
